REPORT: Manchester Rangers v Wigan St Judes A

Rangers moved to top of North West Mens League Division 2 as they put the previously undefeated Wigan St Judes to the sword

 

Jack McCarthy cuts through the Judes defence

A glorious day set the stage for the hotly contested battle of 1st v 2nd in NWML 2 as Rangers hosted undefeated and top of the table Wigan St Judes A. Rangers started brightly as Dan Munt showed his pace on his return from injury, rounding the Judes cover to go under the sticks. Jordan Green adding the extras.

Rangers further extended their lead as Ben Steele’s inside pass found the rampaging Jack McCarthy who was too much to handle for the Judes defence. Connor Winfield adding the extras on this occasion. Winfield then stepped up again to slot a 40m penalty on the stroke of half time and round up the scoring for the first half.

play to score in the corner, Green unsuccessful with the conversion. Ben Steele then showed a clean pair of heels to the Judes defence as he turned on the afterburners to slice through and score under the sticks, Green adding the extras.

In a carbon copy, Chipchase scored his second from the same set play as Ben Steele released the Full Back who showed too much pace. Green once again adding the extras from under the sticks.

Judes hit their purple patch as they ran in 3 quick tries to give Rangers a scare with 10 minutes to go. John Aste with two close range efforts and Chris Pimblett finishing a good chip over. Daryl King converting 2 from 3.

Rangers had the final say of the game as Chris Allen crashed over from close range and Tyrone Parsonage crossed in the corner following a Jack McCarthy break. Winfield adding both conversions to bring the days scoring to an end.
