PREVIEW: Oldham St Annes A v Manchester Rangers

Rangers look to bounce back after suffering first home defeat in 18 months

Connor Winfield burrows over against Ulverston

Manchester Rangers make the short trip to Oldham St Annes A, looking to get back to wining ways after defeat at the hands of Ulverston last week. St Annes will also be keen to pick up the win, narrowly losing their first game in 2018 following an away defeat to Wigan St Judes A. With both teams coming into this game after a loss, they will be fired up to turn around their fortunes this week.

Rangers go into the game sitting 3rd, whilst St Annes are currently in 5th spot. The form book suggests there is very little between the two sides and it’s set to be a close fought encounter at Oldham’s home this Saturday. Matt Valentine spoke about the loss against Ulverston and the upcoming game;

I was really disappointed with the way we performed at home last week, it’s not what I expect from the lads and certainly not what they expect from themselves. Full credit has to go to Ulverston, they came with a game plan to win the points and we fell for it. We went away from what we do best and that ultimately cost us the game, we can’t let that happen again.

Going forward into this weeks game it’s important we learn from our mistakes and fix things up. Oldham will be a similar prospect to Ulverston in that it will be a tough grind in the middle of the park and whoever comes out on top there will win the game. We need to focus on our strengths and play to them, I’m confident that when we click we can beat any team in this league.
