Manchester Rangers host Wigan St Judes in a top of the table clash at Manchester Regional Arena
First play second when top of the table Wigan St Judes A come to Manchester this week to challenge Rangers undefeated home record in 2018. Wigan are currently top having won 4 from 4, the latest being an 86 – 0 routing of North Wales Crusaders A last week. Rangers sit in second spot after winning 4 from 5, on a current win streak of 3 games.
Last year Rangers won on both occasions the two teams met and will be looking to continue that trend in 2018. With the current league trend this game could be pivotal in deciding league positions come the end of the year.
Manchester Rangers Head Coach, Matt Valentine, was wary of the Judes threat
‘We’re coming into this game off the back of two convincing wins against North Wales and Leigh East. The performances in those games haven’t been 100% so it’s pleasing that we’re picking up good wins without really performing at our best. We’ve still got a couple of gears to go through before we reach our potential.
Judes are flying high at the moment and are unbeaten so far in 2018. This is going to be the toughest test I have faced since taking over and it will be a good bench mark to see what level the lads are at. It’s going to be a very physical encounter, they’ve got a big pack and some explosive outside backs that we will need to keep a close eye on. If we step up our performances and play to our potential I’m confident the lads will get the job done this week.’
