PREVIEW: Leyland Warriors v Manchester Rangers

Leyland play hosts as Manchester Rangers look to consolidate top spot

Josh Hill crosses for his second of four against Chorley Panthers

Manchester Rangers go into this weeks round of fixutres sitting top of the tree, but with Ulverston, Wigan St Cuthberts and Wigan St Judes hot on their heels it’s a must win game for the boys in blue. Leyland have had a rocky start to the season which finds them sitting in 9th, but the Warriors are always a tough prospect going into the summer months.

Last time out saw a 24 – 0 victory for the Rangers and they will be looking for more of the same to complete the double in 2018. Last season, rangers secured the 4 league points but were pushed right to the edge by a plucky Leyland side as they defended their home turf stoutly narrowly losing by 26 points to 32.

Manchester Rangers Head Coach, Matt Valentine, is happy with his squad going into this game

We’ve had a good week off and the squad is looking refreshed, it’s a tough calendar so any time you can get a break it’s important you take it! We’ve still got a couple of absentees going into this game but on the whole the squad is raring to go and we’re looking forward to going up to Leyland.

They’ve not started the season the best but that is no indication of where they will be at over the next few months. Leyland are always stronger as the season goes on and have a big up turn in form around now so we need to make sure we’re at 100% if we want to come home with the win.
