Manchester Rangers are delighted to announce an exciting new broadcast partnership with North Manchester FM.
The partnership will see selected Manchester Rangers home games broadcast live from Manchester Regional Arena, starting with next weekend’s clash with Bold Miners. Not only will select games be available on 106.6 North Manchester FM, but ALL Rangers home games will be broadcast live via our online stream.
Manchester Rangers Development Manager, Matt Valentine, spoke about the new partnership
‘It’s fantastic for the club that we are able to engage with the local community through an ever-increasing number of streams. Having our games broadcast live to the local area will raise the exposure of not only the club, but Rugby League, and hopefully aid in getting some new followers on board.
As the club grows it’s important we further strengthen our community links and increase our fan base, visibility and marketability and I believe this link goes some way to doing that. The guys at North Manchester FM have been fantastic and I’m very much looking forward to working with them further as the season goes on.
Special thanks must go to Ben Hughes who has been integral in setting up the partnership and will no doubt become a familiar voice to our listeners as lead commentator!’
The broadcast will not only offer a chance to hear the game as it unfolds live, but there will also be inside analysis from Rangers players, coaches and officials both pre-game and during the match itself.
“It’s an exciting opportunity”, says David Kay Station Manager at North Manchester FM 106.6.
“We’re a grass roots community radio station where all our presenters are volunteers, supported by a small team of paid staff. It’s great to be working in partnership with a community club like Manchester Rangers to bring live rugby commentary to the airwaves of North Manchester. Hopefully it will encourage more people to get involved in the sport”.
Ben Hughes has been instrumental in the setting up of this partnership and has experience in working with FC United of Manchester and hosts his own League 1 Podcast focusing on everything Rugby League. He had this to say;
‘After interviewing various Trusts and volunteers within the sport of Rugby League over the past two years through the Supporters Direct podcast, I have been blown away by the passion and enthusiasm shown, not just for their respective clubs, but for the sport more widely.
Because of this I have started a new League 1 podcast this season, and I want to assist where I can in helping to increase the awareness for the sport, particularly in Manchester where clubs like Manchester Rangers and Mancunians RL are doing such amazing work in the community.
I also think it is brilliant that North Manchester FM has given Rugby League in the City such a platform, and I would like to thank the station for being so supportive of this idea.’
Keep your eyes peeled for details on how to tune in to the first home game of the year on Friday 31st March!
