Recap

Manchester Rangers round of their 2016 pre season campaign with a tough trip to St Helens, were they face Clock Face Miners.

In what has been a gruelling and intense pre season for the Rangers so far, the final hurdle is an away visit to Clock Face Miners. Clock Face first team finished 2nd in the Premier Division in 2015 and the same quality runs throughout the club.

The Rangers get their league campaign under way on Friday 18th March against Bury Broncos and Clock Face will provide testing opposition to benchmark the progress made over pre season.

Manchester Rangers Assistant Coach, Chris Bamber, spoke about the build up to the game

‘Training has been going really well so far. We have recently shifted the focus onto speed and reactions as we get closer to the season in order to get the players firing on all cylinders come round 1. We have seen some massive improvements from our initial benchmarking in early January, the lads have been putting the effort in and it shows.’

‘I’m really looking forward to how the training we have been putting in will show in a game situation. We have really focussed on getting the small things right and this will hopefully lead to some good performances. The new lads have slotted in really well and this will be a good test, We have had 38 players available this week and it’s great to have so many players putting pressure on us for selection.’

One of the players to join the Rangers in 2016 is Stand Off, Ben Steele. Ben has been working hard over the past 2 months and is looking forward to putting that into practice on Saturday.

‘We are a good way into pre season now so it’s important we put in a strong performance this weekend. Our last game highlighted some areas for improvement and we have been working hard on those aspects in training, we will be going out on Saturday with this in mind.’

‘We know we will be facing some tough opposition this weekend. Clock Face are an established club with a long tradition of producing quality players, this will be a massive challenge for us and one which we are looking forward to.’
