Rangers will be looking for revenge after a narrow 2 point, last minute defeat to Oldham St Annes A last time out when they play hosts this Friday.
Manchester Rangers go into the game in arguable their best form of the season. Back to back wins over Leigh East and Leyland Warriors have provided some stability to the Rangers cause but there is no time to relax when Oldham St Annes come to town. St Annes are themselves in good form with wins from 3 of their last 4 including a 20 points to 18 victory over Rangers on Saturday 21st May.
A win on Friday will see Rangers put back to back home wins together and 3 wins in a row home and away. This is a key focus for Rangers and would kick start a slow 2016 so far. Victory on Friday could see the Rangers jump to 7th place but it will be a hard fought game to take anything away.
Rangers Assistant Coach and Head of Strength and Conditioning, Chris Bamber, spoke about the current run of form.
The lads have been playing much better over the past few weeks, close to a level where we expect them to be. I thought we were dominant for about 50/60 minutes of the game against Leyland and that was down to the fact our discipline was squeaky clean. We have been emphasising to the players that a low penalty count often gives you an upper hand in games.
We have an idea of what Oldham St Annes will bring to the table this week from the previous game we played. They have got some very strong players that we need to ensure we shut down otherwise it will be a long day. There aren’t many weaknesses across the board in their team so we will need to keep disciplined and play with structure in order to break them down.
