PREVIEW: Wigan St Cuthberts v Manchester Rangers

Manchester Rangers have reached the Quarter Final stage of the North West Mens League Trophy

Jack McCarthy busts through against Leyland Warriors

The draw of the Quarter Final placed Manchester Rangers against the high-flying Wigan St Cuthberts. St Cuthberts currently sit in Division 3, the league below Manchester Rangers, but have an impressive record of 7 wins from 7 games in the league, showing they could easily compete near the top of Division 2.

Rangers go into the game in a good run of form also, having won 4 of their last 5 games including a 64 – 18 victory over Leyland Warriors last time out. With the two sides looking evenly matched it’s sure to be a close fought game at the home of St Cuthberts.

Head Coach Steve Molloy knows that it will be a hard game against the Wigan side

‘Every time you play in Wigan you know you’ve had a tough game and this week will certainly be no different. The fact we are a Division above St Cuthberts is completely irrelevant, they’re going very well in their league and could easily compete in Division 2.

We’ve hit a good run of form recently and we need to keep that going if we want to pick up the win. Anything less than our best and we may not qualify through to the next round.  We always strive to do as well as we can in any competition and to reach the semi final stages of the trophy would be fantastic.’
